ABOUT THE SESSION:Winnipeg Public Library is once again offering health information literacy programming.  Instruction is focused on the development of critical thinking and evaluation skills. Introductory sessions have been offered, based on the Library’s new Health Information Guide, both on-site for general audiences and off-site for an Indigenous women’s group and a prostate cancer support group.  Plans are in place to make this programming available at a range of public library sites.

Learn about the successes and challenges in undertaking this work for public library audiences.   Hear about plans to promote the public library as an access point for health information.  Share your own thoughts about increasing the profile of librarians and libraries when it comes to the public’s health information needs.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:Monique Woroniak is an Information Services Librarian at Winnipeg Public Library’s Millennium Library.  She is the lead on the Library’s Health Information Guide and is responsible for designing the Library’s health information programming.
